Heavy Duty Mountable Pull Up/ Stud Bar

First off, I've had no problem with the supplied screws - they are holding up well.This bar is just right for mounting in my garage with a nine-foot ceiling. I found my ceiling joists, drilled holes in the right place, and mounted the brackets with the screws that came in the box.The installation video was very helpful except that they recommend the wrong size socket for driving the bolts. If you don't have the right size socket, take one the screws and one of the bolts (used for securing the bar to the bracket) with you to the hardware store to get the correct size.I'm very impressed with this pull up bar and I'm enjoying using it.

I couldn't be happier with the experience I had with every step of the Stud Bar purchase, customer service, installation and ultimately USE!When I purchased my Stud Bar I realized that it was a little too big for my garage ceiling (I ordered a large and my ceiling is around 9.5 feet). Ironically my next door neighbor just purchased a large one as well but it hadn't shipped yet. It is very rare that in your Amazon box you get a personal note from the small business owner, but in this case Mark included a note that said if you need anything call him personally. Low and behold I called the number, talked to Mark, and he switched out the large for a medium and shipped it to my neighbor. I gave my neighbor the large and I installed the medium once it came to his house. It was PERFECT! I wish more small businesses would include personal contact info when you buy their product through Amazon. It made the entire experience great.My garage didn't have 48' between studs, so we installed some 2/4's to make sure it was sturdy. Now that it is installed it works great! I can't do muscle ups on the medium size (because of my height, I am 5'11''), but I have already done T2B, C2B, strict and kipping pull ups. Perfect for any athlete but especially a CrossFitter training for the Open, Murph, or wanting to get better. And if I need to practice muscle ups I can just go next door and work on my neighbor's large model.Living in Columbus, Ohio, the Rogue headquarters is here so it would have been easy to get a Rogue bar which I'm sure is another great product. But I couldn't be happier with the Stud Bar and supporting a small business.Thank you Stud Bar!

Excellent, very sturdy, some play with bar + bar bolts to fit space between studs. Read on for tips.I was a bit worried my stud gap wasn’t going to align with the bar length. Turns out, there’s plenty of give in the bar screws to ensure a tight, sturdy, no wobble installation.I watched the video on the website, mostly helpful: https://studbarpullup.com/stud-bar-installation/#closeAll the tools I used + tips (see picture):-Ratchet kit (cheap from lowe’s for like 25 bucks)-You only need socket size 14 millimeter for the stud screws and 16 millimeter for the bar.-Drill bit sized 3/16” for pilot hole-drill to socket adapter (drill to 3/8” for my socket set-Electric drill (to get stud screws started)I was fortunate to have an open ceiling to work with, so I could get the stud screws dead center on the stud for each hole. Follow the video for the most part, start one end, move to the others, pilot drill first 3/16”, then stud screws.I drilled all the holes first using the ceiling mount as a guide, then I went back and started the stud screws with the e-drill. My drill here is very crappy so I ended up using the ratchet to finish tightening (I’m normally a Milwaukee guy don’t worry). Video says not to use it but if you don’t rotate too far, you won’t break the screws. Just do it enough so that they’re secure, don’t over-tighten.Video was also correct, you want to keep the stud screws loose until you have inserted the bar. There’s a lot of play with the bar screws, maybe a combined 1 1/2 inch? So don’t worry if your studs are a little off. I’d say anywhere (center stud to center stud) between 47 1/2 and 48 1/2 inches you’ll probably be able to get a nice solid fit on the bar. I’d even say you might be able to get away with 47-49”!Anyway, very pleased with how it turned out. Just got 15 reps in, can confirm from a fairly experienced pull upper that this bar is excellent, sturdy, easy grip and high quality. Fully made of steel - shit isn’t going anywhere. I have the 8ft version and have about an 8 foot ceiling, by the way. Fits perfectly.

Overall I think for the money this is an incredible pull up bar. I think with one person installing it on the ceiling in the garage like I did having some sort of paper or cardboard cut out knowing where to make the holes would make life a lot easier. Also one thing to note is that depending on how they built your garage ceiling, which I found out my joists (joist is a stud but in the ceiling) are not at 16 inches or 24 inches as is supposedly standard, but rather 19 inches and so I couldn’t mount this pull up bar easily. Trying to be logical I thought I could rotate the bar 90 degrees to mount it that way, but turning on the ceiling 90 degrees the other way there were no joists within 4 feet so it depends on how the builders built your garage ceiling structurally. Anyways, my resolution was drilling four, 5-foot 2x4s to the 19” ceiling joists, and then mounting the pull up bar sections to those boards. It is sturdy and I’ve used it a decent amount. The bolts included with it seemed just fine (I read complaints about some people having issue). Hope that helps.

I took the time and watched their installation video. Two notes, the installer suggested certain size sockets and these were not the correct sizes for the bolts that came. No biggie. We can always just figure out the right one. As for the ease of installation, it was not easy and the hardware for the cost of this product is junk and they know it. I followed the recommendations going so far as to buy the piece for my drill and longer drill bits because they say that the hardware will break if you use a ratchet. I was just about done and the lag bolt snapped in half in the hole. It renders that hole useless. So, now I am down one lag bolt. Second, the bolts that go into the bar itself...one side was not machined correctly so that bolt would not go in properly. It took some "adjusting" and I got it secure. Overall, the bar and brackets are well made, BUT the point of failure for this whole thing is the most important thing which is the hardware needed to secure this well made bar. There are numerous complaints about it, and he even mentions it in the video. At this point, that means they are aware and have chose not to fix it which at $130 is a bit unacceptable. If you need a pullup bar, this is a good one...but do NOT use their hardware...go and buy a higher quality and shame on them for making you do it.
